The Amazon

I have always been a fan of the strong woman, the warrior woman, and the blend of feminine beauty with strength and fitness and passion. The pencil medium was also among my earliest skill sets, and, I think, one of my favourites.

So with this piece (for an uncoming series over at direlilith.deviantart.com/) I decided to return to my roots and break out the good ol' B-pencils.  I partially used a reference photo from the Bill Dobbins' book, 'Modern Amazons' and the entire thing was rendered in pencil (mostly mid-range B-pencils) from start to finish. I then scanned it and did some very quick overpainting in Photoshop, with a basic soft brush set to Overlay.
